Meet the faculty: a conversation about teaching at the chair

We sat down with one of the faculty between two sessions to ask the question we ask everyone: what did your own teachers get right?

The conversation

What the best teachers got right

They let me watch first and talk later. The lecture came after the case, never before it, and the case was never a slide.

And they admitted the failures. The one time a repair came back, we spent the whole session on why. I learned more that hour than in the whole semester.

Three short answers

What do you wish more clinicians asked?

How long. Not how, not which product: how long each step takes, and what happens when you rush it.

What will you teach next?

The things that go wrong. Every workflow has two places where it fails, and nobody shows them.

A video or a webinar?

Both, for different things. A video for a hand movement, a webinar for a decision.
